Are You A Good Person?

When asked the question, “Do you know for sure you will go to heaven when you die?” many confidently say, “Yes,” some say, “I don’t know” and still others have no assurance at all concerning their life after death. A second question gets right to the heart of the matter. “If you stood before God and he asked you why He should let you into heaven, what would you say?” In other words, what does it take for someone to go to heaven? Most people answer this question by pointing to the fact that they are a pretty good person. They haven’t murdered anyone and they try their best to live a good life. So, in essence, they are trusting in their own goodness to earn a place in heaven. They believe they deserve heaven because they are a good person.
